Every cleaning company offers a “regular” clean and a “deep” clean, and the difference is not always spelled out. In Florida the distinction matters more than in most places, because humidity, salt air and seasonal living create buildup that a quick maintenance visit cannot touch.

What a regular clean covers
A regular clean, sometimes called a maintenance or standard clean, keeps a home that is already in good shape from slipping. It is what a weekly or bi-weekly crew does. The focus is surfaces you touch and see every day: counters, sinks, toilets, showers, mirrors, floors, furniture tops, trash. It is fast because it assumes there is no built-up grime to fight.
A regular clean is not meant to reach the inside of the oven, the back of the fridge, the tops of door frames or the grout lines in a shower that has not been scrubbed since spring.
What a deep clean covers
A deep clean is a reset. It includes everything in a regular clean, then goes into the places that accumulate over months: baseboards, ceiling fans, light fixtures, vents, window tracks, cabinet fronts, behind and under movable furniture, grout, tile, inside appliances, blinds, door frames and switch plates. It takes considerably longer and is priced as its own job.
The rule of thumb: if a home has gone more than two or three months without professional cleaning, or was closed up, renovated or lived in hard, the first visit should be a deep clean. After that, regular visits maintain the result.
Why Florida homes need deep cleans more often
Humidity and mildew
From May through October the air inside a South Florida home rarely drops below 60 percent humidity unless the AC is working hard. Mildew shows up on shower grout, caulk, window sills, the underside of lanai furniture and inside closets that back onto exterior walls. A regular wipe-down slows it. Only a deep clean with time to scrub and treat surfaces actually removes it.
Salt air and sand on the coasts
In Naples, Fort Myers Beach, Miami Beach or Hollywood, salt settles on sliders, screens and glass as a film that streaks when wiped dry. Sand collects in door tracks, under rugs and in lanai corners. These are deep-clean items. A maintenance visit keeps up with what is tracked in that week; it does not strip the film.
Seasonal homes and snowbirds
Thousands of homes from Boca Raton to Marco Island sit closed from April to November. When they reopen, dust has settled on every horizontal surface, the AC has been cycling through a shut house for months, and any moisture that got in has had time to work. An open-up deep clean is standard. So is a close-up deep clean before leaving, so nothing organic is left to grow while the house is empty.
After a storm
Hurricane season runs June through November. Even without flooding, a tropical storm pushes wind-driven rain, leaves and debris into lanais, garages and entryways, and power outages leave refrigerators that need to be emptied and sanitized. A post-storm clean is a deep clean by definition.
New construction and renovations
Drywall dust in new communities around Ave Maria, Westlake or Babcock Ranch keeps settling for weeks after the contractor leaves. Post-construction cleaning is its own service, but a deep clean a month after move-in catches the second wave.

Which one should you book?
Book a regular clean if the home was professionally cleaned within the last month and you want to keep it that way on a schedule.
Book a deep clean if any of these apply: it has been more than two months since the last professional clean, you are opening or closing a seasonal home, a storm just passed, you are moving in or out, someone has been sick, you have new pets, or you are preparing to list the property.
Most clients do one deep clean and then move to bi-weekly regular service. That combination is the most cost-effective way to keep a Florida home ahead of humidity.
